Elite Team ....Day 7 and 8

Day 7

The kids have graduated to 500 kicks for each leg when they get in trouble.   I waived the 50-50-50 drill.  The kids did kicks and thigh work instead.  The total number of kicks done by the end of the night was 2500 each leg.  When I say 'when the kids get in trouble', what I mean is....when they give me an excuse to give the kicks.  I make them do kicks so that they can use every inch of flexiblity that they were given.  Without strong hips, they won't be able to perform the kicks that I am going to teach them with control.  Strong hips are required to be excellent at martial arts.

Just a side note:  This is the Elite Team.  We do difficult things.  Things that are difficult mentally and physically.  THAT is what you signed up for.  I make EVERYTHING difficult and challenging.  I set the rules so that things seem  'NOT FAIR'.  I have a specific reason for it all.  Every move that I make has been proven to be effective for the past 10 years.  I get the result that I want.  The students improve.  They experience A LOT in every class and that is what makes the Elite Team so effective.

Several kids were able to perform the splits.  The kids that can do the splits are:  Hunter, Emma, Alex, Michael, Jonathan and Martin.  There are several other kids that are close to acheiving the splits.

We talked about preparation, working on your splits at home and setting goals so that you get what you want.

We started the process of switching out kicks on the wall for squats, baby squats, jumpers and wall sits.

We talked about Discipline and how it sets you free.  Discipline is 'a way of doing something'.  I explained to them about setting their own personal discipline up by choosing to be excellent...by choosing the most challenging ways to perform.  So, in essence, we talked about 'self-discipline' and how it works.

We talked about Practice adn what it is  and how to develop a skill.  We talked about what a 'skill' is and how to know if you actually have a 'skill'.

Sunny told us that the Elite Team was helping her to acheive more in school.  She says that when she's done with her work, she pushes on so that she can learn more and do better.  That was AWESOME to hear.

We reviewed backfist, punch and ridgehand.  I set up the kicks for Day 8

Day 8 -

The kids did a total of 500 kicks each leg....that's it.

We replaced kicks iwth 50 Jumpers, 50 baby squats, 50 regular squats and one minute of 'wall sits'

I need to give special recognition to Aksahy, Martin and Arjun.  They are outperforming all expectations.  I have seen tremendous improvement from those three kids.  Everyone is improving.  But there are some improvements that are more profound than others....Those kids have taken some of the biggest leaps of improvement I have seen this year....so...good job.

We talked about personal choice.  We talked about me having to say things only once.  The talk went like this....I offer up a challenge. then I present you with a choice.  You can choose to follow the instructions or not.  I can only tell you what my response to your decision will be. Then you have to decide if you want to experience that.

I told the kids stories from my training.

We worked on the front kick /punch fighting system.

Next week we add the axe kick.  We will do the front kick, axe kick / punch fighting system.  We will also be adding the side, round and hook kick fighting system next week.

That's it!

I apologize for not communicating that the classes would be 2.5 hours instead of 2 hours.  I am just trying to give your money's worth.  The kids were ready for the extended classes.  They are getting STRONG!!
